From attacking our right to protest, to locking people up without due process, to threatening our right to vote, and trying to use military troops to police our cities, the current administration is trying to sow fear and intimidate us.
We know from history that when we the people speak up and stand together, authoritarianism can never win. This was the case in 1964 when Black sharecroppers organized the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party and cracked open a political system that had used violence and terror to shut them out. We also saw people power on display in 1986 when two million Filipinos filled the streets of Manila and ended a 20-year dictatorship. And then again the power of the people was unstoppable when in 2025, South Koreans protested for weeks until a corrupt president was arrested and removed from office.
Why? Because authoritarianism is no match for the power of the people.
This is why we’re inviting you to join us and the ACLU to take the pledge to build our people power. By taking action, you’ll be connected to the People Power network, a community of action takers and resources to help fight these attacks on our rights. Resources like online and in person trainings, panels, events and activations, actions you can take directed at Congress and the Administration, and more. Build people power with us today!
